Provost’s Undergraduate Research Initiative Award Projects
SEEING INJUSTICE In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic brought increased awareness to issues of structural injustice, especially in the United States. This project developed photo-dialouge techniques to facilitate community building and discussions of multiple forms of injustice on campus, in our communities and in the United States. Participants created images of experiences of injustice during the pandemic to develop an exhibit representing structural injustice at this time.
ART AND AFFECT provided an opportunity for students to participate in a performance art piece by Elisabeth Ida Mulyani: “Mengenangmu Yang Dihilangkan/In Loving Memory of the Disappeared Ones.” Students considered the ways in which art could be affectively powerful for viewers and how it might be used in advocacy work.
